EMERGENCY CARE

Richmond River Equine Veterinary Services is available to handle emergencies after hours, Monday to Friday a mobile service is offered. We are able to attend to emergencies only at our clinic base at Meerschaumvale on Saturdays and Sundays. In the case of the horse not being able to travel due to medical reasons (i.e. fractured leg or severely ill) we may be able to attend.  We have local  transport companies that are able to float the horse in if required.

Being a solo vet clinic it can be extremely taxing at times to offer this after hours service, so we ask that you are patient, respectful and understanding.  We hope to be able to continue this service for our clients long into the future.

Fees are always paid at the time of service.  Vet pay (a type of after pay) is offered for those who are unable to pay their bill at the time. Accounts are not offered through RREVS.

Our emergency treatments are supported by advanced imaging technologies like digital radiography and ultrasonography, along with stall-side laboratory work, including lactate machine, serum amyloid A & other blood work.

Typical after-hours emergencies encompass various issues, from lacerations to colic. We are well-equipped to perform many emergency procedures.  However, any major surgeries or illnesses will be referred to WestVets, Scenic Rim or UQ.
