Nikita has attended 5 veterinary equine dental courses & is experienced in this area. We perform dentistry in our purpose built mobile equine crush under sedation so that we are able to examine and treat the mouth completely.
Radiographs are available onsite should we uncover any major issues. Nikita is confident performing extractions, these are done under standing sedation, with local anaesthesia (nerve blocks), antibiotics and pain relief. Some extractions are also able to be performed on site, otherwise horses are able to come to the clinic & stay if needed for more complicated procedures.
Regularly (usually yearly at the maximum) floating of the horse's teeth is essential to prevent issues arising from uneven or problematic teeth, as well as to safeguard the horse's overall health and vitality.
As a general rule,
Horses under the age of 4.5 and over 20 should have their teeth examined and floated every 6 months.
Horses between the ages of 4.5 and 20 should be examined and floated every 9-12 months.
This may vary with certain cases.
